Branding / Visual Identity / Brand Guidelines
The Well Zone is a nervous system-first wellness club in Södermalm, Stockholm, built on the idea that recovery starts with regulation, not effort. The owners came to me before the business had a name, and we built the brand from the ground up: naming, identity, color and type system, photography direction, and the first digital touchpoints, all shaped in close collaboration with them from day one.
The challenge was to design a brand that felt like the opposite of a typical fitness studio: no chrome, no adrenaline, no "fitness-class energy." It needed to read as calm, grounded, and quietly premium — while still holding together four distinct offerings under one roof: movement, recovery tech, community, and specialist care.
The name came out of the same thinking that shaped the mark: "zone" as both a psychological and a spatial idea, a state the nervous system can drop into, and a physical space divided into exactly that. We built the identity around a single idea: presence. The logomark is a set of concentric rings drawn from the ripple patterns of zen gardens, with each ring standing for one of The Well Zone's four pillars, a unified shape built from four parts, echoing the brand's promise of bringing mind, body, and environment back into balance.
The palette — Sage Mist, Warm Sand, Midnight Spruce, Olive, Clay, Cacao Root, alongside Charcoal and Stone White trades the stark white and neon accents common in wellness branding for warmer, earthier tones, closer to sand and stone than to a gym. Alegreya Sans carries the everyday voice; a softer serif, Fiona, is reserved for moments that need warmth headlines, quotes, the brand's more reflective language.
The result is a brand that doesn't look or sound like its category — closer to a considered hospitality or wellness-retreat identity than a gym. It gives The Well Zone a distinct visual language across everything from Instagram to signage to the studio itself, and a set of guidelines the owners can keep building on as new zones, partners, and offerings come online.
